Richard Williams has composed across a wide spectrum of projects and styles. He wrote music for the Rise of the Gunters VR Video Game which debuted at SXSW, based on Steven Spielberg's "Ready Player One." Richard worked with the group The Black Piper to create Kaladin, a nearly 90 minute epic orchestral soundtrack album to the award-winning Brandon Sanderson's "Way of Kings" fantasy novel. After raising over $110k on Kickstarter he and his team were able to record with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hungary Studio Orchestra in Budapest.
In addition to writing over a dozen compositions for Brigham Young University's orchestras, jazz, and concert bands while in school, he won the Student Emmys in Hollywood at the College TV Awards twice (2010, 2014) for his scores to BYU's animation films. Soon after graduating, he interned with Sam Cardon, composer for Blizzard’s World of Warcraft.
As a member of the cinematic-pop band TREN, their Hunger Games inspired debut song, “Live or Survive” went viral on Youtube. They have since created more songs inspired by the movies- Independence Day, Alice in Wonderland, Captain America: Civil War, Ghostbusters and Fantastic Beasts. They have been compared to groups such as Evanescence and Imagine Dragons, but their versatility has surprised clients and fans as they continue to write custom music across such wide genres as rock, fantasy, pop, and inspirational.
Richard has also written music for a number of Youtube stars including “Dark Pixel”, “Jacob + Katie Schwarz”, and “Devinsupertramp”, which have gained over 5 million views on YouTube.
